WHY TONGUES?

Isaiah 6.

We all know what happened to Isaiah in the year King Uzziah died. He had a vision where he saw the Lord.

When he saw himself before the Lord, he started declaring: “Woe is me for I am a man of unclean lips and dwell among unclean people.”

Woe is me, for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

You see, it is an aberration to stand before the Lord of hosts and declare ungodly speech

Look through the Scriptures, the heavenly beings only praise the Lord and speak of His greatness.

“Holy holy holy is the Lord”, “Worthy is the Lamb” etc..

But here we see a mortal come before the Lord and shout “Woe is me”

Follow me again.

1. We won’t exactly blame the Prophet because he was a living soul (still linked to the first Adam) and the first Adam is always running away from God and can’t stand to see Him.

2. We see that as a result of the fall of man, the tongue that was given to man to speak Godly speech had now been corrupted.

3. As a result of this corruption, no matter how they tried, the tongue of the old man could only speak condemnation, evil speech, language alien to the nature of God.

And God doesn’t like hearing things like that…He really doesn’t.

When we read on, we see that immediately Isaiah declared what is not of God

One of the seraphim immediately went to clean his tongue

“Excuse me???? We don’t do that here sir”

As a result of the cleansing of his tongue by fire

Isaiah then responded to God at God’s level of speech.

Now, the new creation was then revealed to the world when God raised Jesus from the dead and also seated Him at His right hand.

He gave the New Creation their own language which is TONGUES or UTTERANCE BY THE SPIRIT.

It is the revelation of Tongues that made the psalmist declare and of course Jesus as well

“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants, You have perfected praise”

We’ve been brought into Zion and out of Zion, the perfection of everything that is of God, comes forth.

Now watch this

As we give ourselves to praying in tongues often and often

We are then able to influence the carnal language we speak (English and the rest) to make clear the will of God.

So that’s why we are encouraged to pray that we might interpret!

I dare say if a believer still has a loose mouth, a mouth that is quick to insult or curse
He/she has not been given to praying in tongues!!

Yes, the written Word can edify you

Also yes! Spirit-inspired utterances can also edify you!

You’ve been given the perfect language!

Speak it often!!

If you are born again and can’t do so, reach out! Let the perfection of Zion burst forth from the inside of you.
